Adventures Ahead

Kia Ora!

In 12 days, my hubby and I are flying from Encinitas CA to New Zealand to have an adventure. We'll be working at wineries and getting outdoors as much as possible for 4+ months. Today I put my shop on pause as I do not know if I'll be able to fulfill orders while we're there.

Feel free and reach out to me directly at if you have questions or are interested in an item. I am bringing supplies and plan on making some new pieces while we're there! Let the inspiration begin!

This is us working harvest 2017. As my best friend put it: "Wifey guides while hubby drives"

What can I say, Utah is AMAZING. I have learned to love the desert and how beautiful it is. Having just finished two books by Edward Abbey, Desert Solitaire and Monkey Wrench Gang, my trip to Utah a few weeks ago did not disappoint.

I know we all had a blast in this magical place.

“Water, water, water....There is no shortage of water in the desert but exactly the right amount , a perfect ratio of water to rock, water to sand, insuring that wide free open, generous spacing among plants and animals, homes and towns and cities, which makes the arid West so different from any other part of the nation. There is no lack of water here unless you try to establish a city where no city should be.”

~Edward Abbey, A Desert Solitaire: A Season in the Wilderness

This might have been the happiest moment on the entire trip. Never have I seen such peculiar and spectacular land formations in this area of Canyonlands National Park.

Cactus to Clouds

While I slept peacefully in the back of my car, my husband and dear friend started out on this amazing hike. This

Skyline Trail: Cactus to Clouds is a 18.7 mile,

from Palm Springs to San Jacinto Peak has the greatest elevation gain of any trail in the United States. Also known as the Skyline Trail, it climbs 8000 feet from the desert to Long Valley, then joins with the main trail to gain another 2600 feet to the summit.

Around 9:00am, while my friends had been hiking around 4 hours, I caught the awesome Aerial Tramway to our designated meeting spot. The air was hot and dry in Palm Springs that morning, already hitting close to 85 degrees, but as soon as we started gaining ground in the tram car, the temperature steadily dropped. I'm going to guess to about 55 degrees. Needless to say, I had a huge grin on my face from the moment I woke up because I knew my friends were living in the moment, putting foot in front of foot and heading upwards to where I'd meet them.

Once at the end of the tram way I hiked my way to the ranger station to learn where my friends would come from. I admit it, I was impatient so instead of waiting between 15 minutes to 2 hours for them to arrive, I took off on a short 5 mile trail run. It was amazing and I didn't feel bad when I saw my husband's impatient and angry face when I returned and learned that they had been waiting 45 minutes for me.  Ooops!

We then began the hike to the summit, 5 miles and some change. Due to impeccable timing and chance, we happened upon some friends who had been doing a weekend backpacking trip in the same mountain range! It was so nice to get into nature!

Hand Harnesses

I have long loved making beautiful jewelry to adorn one's body. A timeless obsession are my hand harness bracelets. I make them in silver and gold, with many kinds of gemstones. I stick to a simple and elegant model which says "Hi there, I'm sexy, yet I'm practical".  hahaha

I've been selling tons of gold mandala hand harnesses as well as the silver and turquoise. You can find these bracelet for sale on my website as well as at Lemongrass Aveda Hair Salon & Spa. If you haven't been, you should check this salon out. The people who work there are absolutely amazing and so is the space!

Mala Necklaces

My latest project and creations are that of the Mala bead necklace. I discovered them a few months ago when a friend of mine came back from India and was decked out in 1-2 Malas made out of rudraksha and sandalwood beads. Then I started noticing other people wearing them as well. They are a beautiful and personal adornment for one's neck or wrist, that has meaning beyond just simple body adornment.

Malas have a long history, you can find all sorts of information on the web of course but the simple explanation I like is that the necklace is used for thousands of years in meditation for hindus and buddhists alike. The mala is a strand of special beads strung in multiples of 9: 18, 27, 54 or 108 are the typical bead count. The owner uses the mala to help them keep track of their mantra chanting. The beads themselves do not have to be seeds or wood but can be gemstones as well, and thats where my creations come in. It is said that stones carry vibrations and can transfer all kinds of energy to their owners. This is one of the reasons I love working with gemstones!

The malas I've created have 108 beads, some with tassels or gemstones to complete the look and others with a unique Nepalian wish locket! The lockets are of mixed metal, Chinese silver, copper, bronze and brass. Since they open, I've rolled up a piece of paper with a mantra written on it. I love the idea of owning a necklace that has such a long and meaningful history.

My favorite malas use turquoise, blue lace agate or carnelian. What calls to you?

Happy 2015 Sale!

It's a new year and time for new beginnings! Even though I live in sunny Southern California, this is still one of my favorite times of year. Trees lose their leaves and hillsides show green with new fresh grasses from recent rainfalls. Winter camping and less crowds. Brisk nights mean cozy beach bonfires with friends.

Happy 2015 to all of you who visit my website in search of unique and beautiful handcrafted jewelry. Please use discount code "JAN2015" to take 15% off all purchases, ends 01/31/15.

This past weekend a group of friends and I went out to Joshua Tree for camping and climbing. This is me climbing a route on the Thin Wall in the Real Hidden Valley.
